GLOSSARY / Status Effects
Burn
Related names and search terms: Burn, Burn Potency, Burn Count
At a Glance
A status that deals damage at Turn End. Potency determines damage per activation; Count tracks duration.
GUIDEHow It Works
Ordinary Burn deals fixed damage equal to its Potency at Turn End, then loses 1 Count.
Increasing Potency and increasing Count are different effects. Turn End, rather than the number of attack hits, is its normal trigger.
NOTESCommon Misunderstandings
- Even fixed damage can interact with special enemy effects that reduce Burn damage.
- Related effects such as Dark Flame do not necessarily follow the same rules.
EXAMPLEWorked Example
Burn maintained at 5 Potency and 2 Count
- 1Turn EndBurn damage 5Count2 → 1Potency unchanged
- 2Turn EndBurn damage 5Count1 → 0Count runs out
No additional applications, consumption, Burn damage modifiers, or special effects occur in this example.
