GLOSSARY / Status Effects
Potency and Count
Related names and search terms: Potency, Count, Status Effect, Stacks
At a Glance
Values describing a status effect's strength and remaining activations or duration. When Count decreases depends on the effect.
GUIDEHow It Works
Some statuses track Potency and Count separately. Inflicting Potency and increasing Count are different changes.
Burn normally activates at Turn End; Rupture activates when the bearer is hit. Check each effect's trigger and when its Count decreases.
Stacking, caps, and Count consumption differ between effects. Read each description rather than assuming one universal rule.
NOTESCommon Misunderstandings
- 2 Count does not necessarily mean 2 turns remaining.
- Skill Power and status Potency are separate values.
EXAMPLEWorked Example
Ordinary Rupture: 5 Potency, 2 Count
- 1Take a hitAdditional damage 5Count2 → 1Potency unchanged
- 2Take a hitAdditional damage 5Count1 → 0Count runs out
Assumes no effects that change Potency or Count during the sequence and no special modifiers.
