01Getting started

Start with the story and unlock more activities as you play.

Progress through the story

Start by progressing through the main story. New activities and upgrade options unlock along the way, so there is no need to take too many detours until battles become difficult.

Understand Sinners, Identities, and E.G.O

A Sinner is a character; an Identity is a version of that character selected for battle. E.G.O are powerful skills activated by spending resources during combat. Each Identity has different skills and strengths. Select a Sinner from the list to browse their Identities.

Choose your deployed team from what you own

Build around the Identities available to you, and look at their skills and resistances. You do not need to commit to a single status effect or affiliation from the start. Each Identity page explains its role and how to use it.

02Upgrading your team

Focus on the Identities you use most rather than upgrading everyone at once.

Upgrade the Identities you plan to deploy first

Prioritize levels and Uptie for the Identities you intend to use. Levels improve basic stats, while Uptie unlocks and strengthens skills and passives. Check the required materials and upgrade effects before spending resources.

Upgrade according to what is holding you back

If enemies greatly outlevel you, review your levels. If skills or passives are still locked, review Uptie. Use enemy information on the deployment screen and your team's current upgrades as a guide, rather than a fixed level based only on story progress.

Farm the materials you are missing

Consider EXP Luxcavation when you need Identity Training Tickets, or Thread Luxcavation when you need Uptie materials. Check unlocks and rewards in the game, and keep some Enkephalin for story progression.

Upgrade E.G.O when you need to

Threadspin upgrades E.G.O. Avoid spending all your materials at once; first check which E.G.O you use often and what each upgrade provides.

03Daily and weekly activities

Use daily Luxcavations and weekly Mirror Dungeon runs to gather upgrade materials and rewards for the Dispenser.

Replenish upgrade materials through daily Luxcavations

EXP Luxcavation provides Identity Training Tickets for levels. Thread Luxcavation provides Thread for Uptie and E.G.O Threadspin. Choose EXP when you need levels, or Thread when you need Uptie. If daily bonus rewards remain, use them on the materials you need before the daily reset.

Spend Enkephalin on Luxcavations or convert it into Modules

Enkephalin is used for the story and Luxcavations, while Modules are used for activities such as Mirror Dungeons and skipping Luxcavations. Keep Enkephalin when you plan to progress the story. Convert what you will not use soon, or what would otherwise exceed the cap, into Modules. Skipping Luxcavations saves time but gives fewer rewards per Module than fighting normally.

Advance the Battle Pass with weekly Mirror Dungeon runs

Mirror Dungeon completion rewards include Battle Pass EXP, with additional rewards when you use weekly bonuses. Bonuses reset each week, so check how many remain on the reward screen. Start with a difficulty you can clear reliably; try Hard once you have unlocked it.

Put your rewards toward upgrades and the Dispenser

Luxcavations are useful for upgrade materials you need immediately. Mirror Dungeons help you advance the Battle Pass and obtain Egoshard Crates. Farm Luxcavations for an Identity you want to upgrade, or collect shards through Mirror Dungeon rewards when you have an Identity or E.G.O in mind for the Dispenser.

04When you get stuck in battle

Review the causes of defeat one at a time to work out whether you need upgrades or a different approach.

Compare enemy and ally levels and resistances

Pre-battle information can reveal problems such as an enemy level advantage or poor resistance matchups. Replacing an Identity that is weak to the enemy's attack type may be enough to make the battle easier.

Clash against dangerous attacks

Assigning an ally's skill against an enemy attack can create a Clash. To stop a dangerous attack, check your chances of winning before committing a skill. The forecast does not always determine the final outcome.

Check SP and skill effects

SP affects the chance of rolling Heads on normal Coins. Read Base Power, Coin Power, and skill effects, and check whether you have met the conditions that let each Identity perform well.

Read the boss's mechanics and adjust your team

A boss's passive and part descriptions may explain how to deal with it. Once you identify useful status effects or attack types, adjust your Identities, resistances, and support. The boss guides cover difficult encounters in Chapters 3–7; start with the battle you are stuck on.

05Mirror Dungeons and obtaining Identities from the Dispenser

Turn Mirror Dungeon rewards into Battle Pass progress and Egoshards.

Mirror Dungeons advance the Battle Pass

Clearing a Mirror Dungeon grants Battle Pass EXP. Pass rewards include upgrade materials and Egoshard Crates. If you are stuck in the story, upgrade the Identities you need before trying a run.

Start with a manageable difficulty

There is no need to rush into a higher difficulty. Choose one your current team can handle reliably, and check bonus uses, extra rewards, and Module costs when claiming rewards. Hard has unlock requirements; follow the in-game information.

Understand the different Crates

An Egoshard Crate gives shards for a random Sinner. A Nominable Egoshard Crate lets you choose the Sinner when opening it. Either type gives 1–3 shards per Crate. If you know which Identity or E.G.O you want, prioritize Nominable Crates so you can choose the corresponding Sinner.

Exchange shards at the Dispenser

Each Sinner's Egoshards can be exchanged for that Sinner's Identities or E.G.O at the Dispenser. Requirements and available seasons differ by item, so check the item you want before opening Nominable Crates for the corresponding Sinner.

Check availability and timing

Dispenser availability and conditions vary by Identity and E.G.O. Check whether the item is available before deciding which Sinner's shards to collect. Requirements and availability may change, so use the latest in-game information.

Choose between Extraction and the Dispenser

If the item you want is available in the Dispenser, compare its shard cost with what you own before continuing to Extract. The Dispenser lets you choose an item, but collecting shards takes time. Check current Extraction offerings and limited-time availability before deciding.

How to read this table: Rewards assume completion of the final floor. Hard values assume that none of that week's bonuses have been used before claiming rewards. Each level requires 10 EXP; the table starts at 0 progress. Leftover progress carries over. Crate counts apply after all regular Pass rewards have been claimed: each additional level gives 1 Crate on the free Pass, or 3 in total with the purchased Limbus Pass.

06Other common questions

When unsure, check the latest in-game information and decide how you will use a resource before spending it.

What is Lunacy used for?

Lunacy can be used for Extraction, Enkephalin refills, and other purposes. Check the current Extraction offerings and consider how often you play before deciding how to spend it.

Watch for season changes

A new season changes Dispenser availability, Pass rewards, and other content. Check the Dispenser and in-game notices before spending shards or opening Crates.

When you do not understand a term

Look up unfamiliar combat terms in the glossary. For effects unique to an Identity, also read the effect descriptions on that Identity's detail page.
