Target Redirection and Interception

Battle Basics

At a Glance

Changing an enemy skill's target to yourself in a Focused Encounter. Check both the original target and Speed.

GUIDEHow It Works

Drag your skill to an enemy skill slot. If its attack already targets you, an attack skill can Clash even when your Speed is lower or tied.

Intercepting an attack aimed at another ally requires higher Speed than that enemy slot. Equal Speed is insufficient. If the condition is not met, targeting it with an attack leaves the enemy's target unchanged and both attacks are unopposed.

Redirection and Clashing are separate. Defense skills can also redirect, but ordinary Guard or Evade defends instead of creating an attack Clash. Some Unclashable attacks can still be redirected.

If multiple allies select the same slot, the last valid redirection takes precedence. Recheck arrows after all selections to ensure the attack has not returned to the ally you intended to protect.

NOTESCommon Misunderstandings

  • Being able to intercept does not guarantee a Clash Win. Check Speed and Skill Power separately.
  • Skills with rules such as unchangeable targets can override normal redirection.
  • Intercepting a multi-target attack's main target does not necessarily remove its subtarget hits on other allies.

EXAMPLEWorked Example

Ally B at Speed 5 protects A from an enemy at Speed 4

Before

Enemy attackSpeed 4
→
Ally A is targetedSpeed 3

Ally B assigns an attack: Speed 5 > enemy Speed 4

After: B intercepts this attack originally aimed at A

Enemy attackSpeed 4
⇄
Ally B interceptsSpeed 5
Before: enemy 4 → ally A3 / Ally B5 assigns an attack to the enemy slot / After: ally B5 Clashes with enemy 4

An ordinary single-target attack with no redirection restriction. At Speed 4, B could not intercept for another ally. A can Clash at Speed 3 because the attack already targets A.
