GUIDEMechanics and How to Use

At a Glance

A Pierce attacker who spreads Butterfly, a special form of Sinking that lets Sinking teams deal Gloom damage even to enemies with SP. Allies also recover SP when they attack enemies with Butterfly.

Core Mechanics

  • Butterfly (special Sinking; maximum 15): Potency represents The Living, and Count represents The Departed. When its bearer takes a hit, the attacker recovers SP equal to The Living ÷ 4, with a minimum of 1. If the bearer's SP is below 0 when hit, deals Gloom damage equal to The Departed × Sinking Potency ÷ 5, capped at 30 in total. At Turn End, The Departed is reset to 0; the bearer receives Sinking equal to The Living, then The Living becomes The Departed.
  • Special ammunition and Reload: Starts battle with 10 of The Living and 10 of The Departed. Each Coin inflicts Butterfly according to the ammunition it consumes. Running out of ammunition cancels all remaining Coins and triggers Reload. When obtaining ammunition, each round has a 70% chance to be The Departed at 0 SP or above, or The Living below 0 SP.
  • S3 — Goodbye Now, a Sorrow in You: Increases Sinking Count by 3 on Clash Win. Coin Ⅲ consumes all remaining ammunition to inflict Butterfly; Coin Ⅳ deals Gloom damage equal to all Butterfly on the target. Reloads after the attack.
  • S2 — Solemn Lament for the Living: After attacking, gains ammunition equal to the highest Resonance, up to 6. Absolute Resonance doubles this amount, up to 12; at 4 or more Absolute Resonance, Reloads instead.
  • Combat passive — Fire.IShallFire. (3 Gloom Resonance; unlocked at Uptie Ⅱ): Reloads if his own skill kills a target. Gaining ammunition grants 2 Haste next turn, once per turn.

How to Use

Use him in a Sinking team, adding Butterfly to the Sinking inflicted by his allies. At Turn End, The Living applies Sinking and becomes The Departed, so the setup can strengthen Gloom damage from Sinking on the following turn as well. You do not need to spend it immediately; applying Butterfly in preparation for allied attacks next turn also works. S3 expends all ammunition to inflict a large amount of Butterfly, making it useful both to finish an enemy with accumulated Sinking and to prepare the next turn. Reloading costs SP, so actively seek Clash Wins and consider allies who can restore his SP. Both S3 and his defense skill, FromTheCoffinAButterflyTakesFlight, always Reload; account for that cost when managing his SP.

KEYWORDSEffect Glossary

The Living & The Departed
Special ammunition Maximum combined Potency and Count: 20 Consumed when using certain skills. When consumed, randomly consume The Living (Potency) and The Departed (Count). If insufficient ammunition remains when consuming it, cancel the attack.
SinkingShared mechanics →
When hit by an attack skill, take fixed SP damage equal to the Potency (converted to Gloom damage for Abnormalities). After taking damage, reduce Count by 1.
Butterfly
Special Sinking Default: 0; maximum: 15 This effect's Potency is The Living; its Count is The Departed. When taking damage, heal the attacker's SP by The Living ÷ 4 (minimum 1, rounded down). If SP is below 0 when taking damage, take Gloom damage equal to Sinking Potency ÷ 5 for every 1 The Departed (maximum Gloom damage: 30, rounded down; halve this damage against targets without SP). At Turn End, reset The Departed to 0. Inflict Sinking equal to The Living, then convert The Living into The Departed. External effects cannot increase this effect's infliction amounts. Extra Sinking infliction effects add Sinking instead of extra Butterfly. Remove this effect when both The Living and The Departed reach 0.
Reload
Applies to The Living & The Departed special ammunition. Lose SP equal to (30 - The Living & The Departed held) ÷ 2, rounded down. Set The Living & The Departed to 0, then gain a total equal to the maximum ammunition capacity, using the probabilities of ISeeTheDyingButterfly. Gain at least 1 each of The Living and The Departed when Reloading.
Haste
For 1 turn, increase Speed by the value.
