Parts and Part Breaks

At a Glance
Focused Encounter enemies can have separate HP, Stagger Thresholds, and actions for each part. Attacking a part also affects main-body HP.
GUIDEHow It Works
An enemy's parts have their own HP, thresholds, and skills. Staggering a part stops that part's actions.
An attack aimed at a part's slot damages both the part and the main body. Damage calculation uses that targeted part's resistances.
Depleting part HP breaks it. Physical resistances generally worsen afterward, but whether it stops acting, regenerates, or becomes stronger depends on the enemy.
Excisable parts cannot be selected while broken. A break does not always immediately stop actions, so check the enemy description.
NOTESCommon Misunderstandings
- Reducing a part to 0 HP does not necessarily defeat the main body. Watch both HP values.
- Post-break actions and regeneration have exceptions.
DETAILSMore Details
Part breaks and excisable parts
The state after a part loses all HP depends on the enemy.
At 0 part HP, the part becomes broken. In many cases its actions are canceled and its Attack Type resistances become Fatal.
An excisable part cannot be targeted while broken. Other enemies keep attacking, revive, or strengthen after a break; follow their individual descriptions.
- A Part Broken message alone does not prove the entire enemy is disabled or defeated.
What happens after part HP reaches 0
This is a basic classification. Check individual enemies for exceptions such as revival, continued actions, or strengthening.
EXAMPLEWorked Example
An attack on a part reaches both part and body
