Evade
Related names and search terms: Backup Evade, Evade Reuse, Solo Deployment
At a Glance
A defense skill that compares Evade Power with incoming Attack Power and avoids attacks on success.
GUIDEHow It Works
Evade first checks against the first Coin of the selected attack. Evade Power equal to or above Attack Power avoids that Coin's damage and On Hit effects; a lower result takes the hit without reduction.
After success, Evade is reused against later Coins and attacks in that turn until it fails. Ties count as success. It does not respond to ordinary Counters. If multiple Evades target one enemy skill and the earlier Evade avoids everything, later Evades do not activate.
Counter is a separate defense method that attacks after taking a hit; it does not depend on Evade success.
NOTESCommon Misunderstandings
- Check enemy descriptions for special rules such as attacks that cannot be Evaded.
DETAILSMore Details
Backup Evade
Assign an Evade and an attack from the same Identity to the same enemy slot, keeping Evade ready for attacks after the Clash.
Requires at least 2 action slots on the same Identity in a Focused Encounter. First aim Evade at the enemy attack slot, then aim an attack from another slot at that same enemy slot. The attack Clashes, while the Evade is shown as an unopposed defense.
After you win against an attack with Unbreakable Coins, the remaining enemy Coins attack after your own attack. The waiting Evade can avoid these hits and their On Hit effects, combining Clash-based Coin weakening with Evade.
Evade activates when its chosen enemy slot attacks that Identity. It can also provide insurance after a Clash Loss, even without Unbreakable Coins.
- Both actions must come from different slots of the same Identity and target the same enemy slot. If another ally intercepts the attack and the Evading Identity is not attacked by that slot, Evade does not activate.
- Winning the Clash and weakening Unbreakable Coins does not guarantee Evade success. Check remaining Coin Power and individual effects.
- Clashable Guard and Clashable Counter do not respond to post-victory remaining Coins in this way. Evading a multi-target attack does not protect other allies from their own hits.
Assign Evade first, then an attack to the same enemy slot
One Identity's action slots (at least 2)
Assignment order: Evade → Attack
- ClashSlot B's attack wins the ClashYour attack follows
- Remaining Unbreakable Coins attackSlot A's Evade activatesSuccess prevents damage and On Hit effects
This shows Unbreakable Coins attacking after a Clash Loss. If the enemy dies or the attack otherwise never occurs, the waiting Evade does not activate.
Repeated Evade during solo deployment
One slot's successful Evade can be reused against subsequent attacks in the same turn, leaving other slots free to attack.
Solo deployment concentrates incoming attacks, making Evade reuse valuable. Aim Evade at the first enemy attack that will actually reach you, and attack with the other slots. Backup Evade can also handle Unbreakable Coins.
After the first success, reuse Evade against the next Coin of that skill and attacks from later skills. Each reuse does not require another action slot.
This is not exclusive to solo deployment. It also works in larger teams when later attacks hit the same Identity.
- Evade does not begin until its selected attack reaches you. Targeting a later attack leaves earlier hits unprotected. Check resolution order, including your own Clashes.
- The Evade Coin rerolls on every reuse. Success is not guaranteed: a failed Coin deals its damage without reduction and ends reuse of that Evade.
- Another prepared Evade may take over from the next Coin after failure. Multiple Evades on the same enemy skill do not all activate if the first avoids every hit.
One Evade slot handles later attacks
- Enemy attack A, first Coin: Evade succeedsThe selected slot's attack triggers Evade
- Attack A, next Coin: reuse succeedsReuse the same Evade and reroll its Coin
- Later attack B: reuse succeedsReuse the same Evade and reroll its Coin
- A later Coin fails: take that hit, then reuse endsCannot retry Evade against the failed Coin
One example of success and failure. Backup Evade is the assignment technique; repeated Evade is the reuse mechanic. Evade does not carry over to the next turn.
EXAMPLEWorked Example
Evade success and reuse
- Compare attack-Coin Power with Evade Power
- Equal or higher Evade Power negates that attack
- Reuse against later attacks until failure
A failed Evade takes the attack without reduction. Multiple Evades and special Coins can have additional rules.
